Robert Alner is a British racehorse trainer specializing in National Hunt racing. He is based at stables at Droop, near Sturminster Newton in Dorset, England. He trained the winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Cool Dawn in 1998.
In November 2007 he was seriously injured in a car accident and underwent surgery after breaking a bone in his neck.
He's fine - he ate up last night and there is not a mark on him. He's totally sound and happy. We will just try and freshen him up now. The owner is coming down on Wednesday and we will discuss it then but the sensible thing to do seems to be give him a bit of a break then start working back towards Cheltenham.
