Sarah Michelle Gellar Prinze is an American actress and producer. After being found by an agent in a local restaurant in New York City, she had a role in the made-for-TV movie An Invasion of Privacy and went on to appear in shows like Spenser: For Hire and Crossbow. Gellar had her first lead part in 1992's mini-series Swans Crossing and then, she originated the role of Kendall Hart on the ABC daytime soap opera All My Children, winning the 1995 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series.
Gellar came to prominence in the late 1990s when she landed significant parts in 1997's successful horror films I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2 and the role of Buffy Summers on the WB/UPN television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, for which she won six Teen Choice Awards and the Saturn Award for Best Genre TV Actress and received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress – Television Series Drama. She found film critics praise for her performance in the teen drama Cruel Intentions and she subsequently appeared as Daphne Blake in the box office hits Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, and the American remake of Japanese horror film The Grudge. She also had the main role in the television series Ringer. She has been married to Freddie Prinze Jr. since 2002. The couple have two children.
