James Alfred Van Allen was an American space scientist at the University of Iowa.
The Van Allen radiation belts were named after him, following the 1958 satellite missions in which Van Allen had argued that a Geiger counter should be used to detect charged particles.
There is nothing (educators) can do inside this classroom that is going to solve this problem unless we get the parents to take a more proactive role. And they don't have to be highly educated. All they have to have is a commitment to support this child to get an education.
